Spillian’s Meadow

Three years ago our first SpillianFest introduced the public to “The Meadow, ” our gorgeous outdoor stage built into the old stone foundation of one of the original Spillian buildings. It was a revelry attended by more than 500 guests. Since then our magical meadow has hosted weddings, workshops, and gatherings. We’ve added a pretty spiff rustic pavilion for the bar, made from trees on the property, the bonfire pit, and lighting to shape the woods around us.

The Music

Johnny Piper

Eclectic and powerful, John “Johnny Piper” McGovern is not only the founder of internationally acclaimed Bagpipe Punk Rock band, Alternative Ulster, he’s also the bagpiper for the Ulster County, NY Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard. THE authority when it comes to Celtic Punk, Paddy Rock Podcasts, has declared Alternative Ulster as one of the Top 5 Bands for the Next Decade (2020-2030). John has performed solo for countless funerals and weddings, but is also always ready to get the party started with jigs, reels and rock & roll. In John’s hands, the bagpipes will get your feet dancing as well as your tears flowing. An ancient Scottish proverb speaks to the raw power of the ancient instrument – “12 Highlanders and a bagpipe make a rebellion”. No other musical implement inspires such courage in battle, joy in celebration or anguish in mourning. Johnny’s mighty drones shall rock your bones!

Brasskill

Brasskill is the Hudson Valley’s party brass band. Based in Hudson, NY and founded in the Spring of 2018, Brasskill brings funky decibels to parties, festivals, parades and other merry gatherings in the Hudson Valley and surrounding areas. Brasskill’s music ranges from New Orleans second line tunes to punk and pop covers as well as Latin grooves — and is guaranteed to get your party out on the dance floor.

The Dylan Doyle Band

Back for his fifth year headlining SpillianFest! Southern born, Northern raised , Dylan Doyle has been steeped in everything from Bob Dylan, Wes Montgomery, and Bill Withers to John Prine, Jimi Hendrix, and The Band.  From this comes a unique musical interpretation that lies somewhere within the delta of Roots, Rock, and Jazz, giving him a style that defies classification.

Touring nationally since age 15, Dylan became a seasoned professional at a very young age.  He has played with such notable musicians Rob Stoner (Bob Dylan, Don Mclean), John Platania (Van Morrison, Natalie Merchant), Ben Cauley (Otis Redding) and Bill Payne (Little Feat).  Stoner called Dylan one of the most prodigious players he has known with abundant natural talent.  John Platania has referred to Dylan as “The Future.”  Ben Cauley, after playing with Dylan in Memphis said, “Dylan Doyle sounds like a young Jimi Hendrix.”  In the words of Bill Payne upon sharing the stage, “Music is a conversation.  Dylan spoke beautifully and was listening to the musicians around him.  His play was imaginative and original.” Attesting to Dylan’s versatility, Dylan has played the King Biscuit Blues Festival three consecutive years as well headlining the Grateful Garcia Gathering, the largest Grateful Dead festival in the Midwest. Dylan consistently packs houses around Europe and the United States.
