SpillianFest is a glorious celebration of mountain magic, world class food, and seriously fine music from artists who catch Spillian’s magic and toss it back out to us.
This year, a Spillian-style Catskills picnic to remember the perfect summer in the mountains, made of sunburnt noses, first loves, and nights of a million fireflies.
In those perfect summers of the past, friendships were stronger, the food was tastier and the music….ah, the music was the soundtrack to those days…burned into our heads with a connection that instantlly transports us back to more innocent times, when a good lyric could pierce our souls and a great riff could thrill us like a kiss.
On July 15, take a day, come to Spillian and let’s see if we can’t remind you a little of that magic memory we each have in our head…
Come and delight in the anthems of summer from…
…the incomparable Connie Mohar as he wanders the crowd with his accordion, playing your requests
… the fabulous Zydeco Revelators as they bring their own Cajun magic to old favorites from the bayou and beyond
…the one-and-only guitar phenom Dylan Doyle & the Delta Gypsys as they bring their superb roots rock & blues hearts to the songs of summer, live broadcast from Spillian on WIOX Radio courtesy of our sponsoring partner, Margaretville Telephone Company, who are donating high speed internet access for the day to ensure a great broadcast.

About Dylan Doyle
“Dylan Doyle is a great young musician with the soul of an old bluesman.” – John Platania, Guitarist, Van Morrison

Photo © James Rice Photography
Southern born and Northern bred, eighteen year old Guitar Slinger Dylan Doyle embodies the best of both old and new music worlds. Steeped in the authentic sounds of blues and Americana — with influences as broad as the Mississippi river, from Robert Johnson to John Lee Hooker, from Buddy Guy to Bob Dylan, The Band, Bill Withers and Jimi Hendrix, Dylan’s unique musical interpretation lies somewhere in the intersection of delta Blues, Rock with just a taste of Funk that is uniquely his own.
Touring since age 15, Dylan has performed at the Grateful Garcia Gathering, at the King Biscuit Blues Festival for the last 4 years, and, this year, is planning his first European tour for early 2017. In short, Dylan has been preparing all his life to take the stage for his first live CD, and plant his flag where legendary artists have tread before.
“There truly must be something in the water in Upstate New York. Dylan joined the group Minstrel (Connor Kennedy, Lee Falco, Will Bryant, and Brandon Moss) and me last September at The Falcon in Marlboro, NY. He sat in on Little Feat’s “Dixie Chicken” that evening. His playing was flawless and inventive. Live performance is not about only playing a song but being aware of the conversation and flow of those you’re playing with. He spoke beautifully and was listening to what was going on around him.” — Bill Payne, Little Feat
About The Zydeco Revelators
Zydeco Revelators deliver hot Louisiana-style dance music. Sweet Cajun accordion, electric guitar and a powerhouse rhythm section, and that cool metal rub-board vest, touring the East Coast! Bring yer dancin’ shoes… Featuring Phil Passantino, accordion/vocals, Lou Selmi, drums/vocs, Keith Vukan, bass/vocs, Lawrence Ochs, guitar/vocs, and Arieh Bellehsen, rub-board.
About Connie Mohar
Connie is one of the gems of the Catskills. A Julliard-trained classical clarinetist and jazz sax man, he has worked with the likes of Charles Mingus and Eddie Shaughnessy. That’s all lovely. But then there’s the accordion…Connie can play pretty much any tune you can dream up and shares it with virtuosity and a twinkle in his eye. He’ll be starting SpillianFest off right this year, taking requests as he wanders the grounds!
